Migraines/Headaches
Denise C.

Being a Certified Personal Trainer and marathon runner, it is important for me to be in the best health I can be in. By that I mean, it is not what you see on the outside, but the inside as well. You have to have a good foundation to build on. I tell my clients that all the time.
In my early 20′s I had an accident, slipping a disk on my career back then made my back and neck in horrible condition. I had lower back pain all the time. My neck was so out of aliment that I suffered from extreme migraines for years.
After changing careers over 15 years ago and seeking out help for my spinal problems, I met Dr. Shani and Dr. Allen at Clear Purpose Chiropractic, at a business Expo last fall. They have not only corrected my spinal and migraine problems, but also keep me in the best health I can be in.
That is very important to me and when I have a client who is having trouble with their back, or anything structural, I don’t hesitate to refer to the doctors at Clear Purpose Chiropractic. I know that after their first visit they will be feeling 100% better. However, it doesn’t stop there. The maintenance is just as important or more important then the beginning stages of treatment.
Other than an accident, most lifestyle problems don’t happen over night, and they won’t disappear over night either. It is a commitment and how hard you are willing to change your lifestyle. I tell my clients that all the time.
Being an athlete myself it is very important that I am not injured. Not only for myself but for my clients. I run many of my clients thru marathons. I make sure that they are getting the best care physically, mentally, and structurally that they can receive. It is a great relief to know that I can send my clients to Dr. Shani and Dr. Allen and know that they are getting the best care possible to help achieve just that.
I have been to a few chiropractors in the last 20 years and never have I found 2 doctors that are more thorough and caring as Dr. Shani and Dr. Allen.

“Clear Purpose Chiropractic, huh? Cool name, cool logo, but what’s the clear purpose?” At least that’s the question that came to my mind, when I first became a patient. I mean the office was pretty impressive, what with the flat screen TV and the hi-tech card swipes. And that roller table Ð let me tell you, I was an instant fan of that thing. But were these guys going to be more concerned with maintaining a chill office atmosphere or with helping patients?
You see, I’d heard about chiropractors before. I’d heard that once you start going, you have to keep going in order to make any sort of progress. Well, I wasn’t sure I was ready for that kind of commitment. So for a few years I just dealt with the pain that came from having lazy posture…Then I went to college, and it seemed that with each year the hours spent hunched over books grew exponentially. This also caused the pain in my neck, and the accompanying headaches, to grow both in frequency and intensity. In the middle of the spring semester of my junior year, my mom told me about this new chiropractor she had found in Westlake named Dr. Allen. She said that he dealt with her with more care and patience than she had ever experienced from other chiropractors. My mother, bless her heart, has been to many chiropractors over the years, and as a fibromyalgia sufferer, she has one of the most sensitive necks in the world. This was the first time I had heard her talk about a chiropractor adjusting her gently. As my own neck pain became less and less bearable, I asked her if I might be able to see this “gentle adjuster.” Almost immediately after returning home for the summer, I was on my way to a consultation with a business card in my hand bearing the name “Clear Purpose Chiropractic.”
After examining my X-rays, Dr. Allen concluded that, yes, I had lost a substantial amount of the curvature in my neck, 56% if I remember correctly. But he also assured me that, given my youthfulness, he would be able to get me back to normal by the time I returned to school in the fall. That gave us three months to correct what had taken 21 years to do. I was a little skeptical, but I was also happy to hear that this was not going to be a life-long commitment. It was very refreshing to find a doctor who was more concerned with correcting my posture and getting me back on my way than with maintaining a consistent client base, and thus his own job security.
So for the next three months I came in three times a week, and tried to be as faithful as I could to do my time on the little “Wonder Wedge of Traction” twice a day. At the end of the summer, when it came time to evaluate my progress, we were delighted to find that I had regained 49% of the curvature in my neck Ð well within the normal range. Because I am still a student, reading books for hours on end is inescapable, but with my trusty traction unit, and monthly visits to the office, I hope to be able to maintain the progress made over the summer.
If I could offer one bit of advice to new patients, it would be this: DO YOUR TRACTION! It is equally as important as the adjustments! Dr. Allen and Dr. Shani may be able to adjust your spine, but you have to be faithful to do the work to reeducate your muscles to hold the discs in the right place. Your age and the state of your spine will determine how fast you can make progress, but know this: They are not trying to keep you around so that they can make more money off you. They want to help your body perform at its fullest potential, and they are willing to put in the time and effort necessary to accomplish this if you are. That’s the clear purpose behind Clear Purpose Chiropractic…and they have a sweet office too!

Alison G.

Hi, my name is Alison and I want to tell you a story about my experience here at Clear Purpose Chiropractic. I found out about Clear Purpose when they first moved in next door to my work, Total Woman Gym and Day Spa. My general manager, Gina, started coming in to get adjusted and I would accompany her often (for moral support, of course!). As much as I loved the break from work, I would cringe at the sight of her being adjusted. Growing up, I could never bring myself to crack my back or my knuckles like most people do, only because of the sound that it made. After two weeks of coming in with Gina, I got to know the staff more and Dr. Allen oferred to do an exam and if needed take x-rays of my neck and spine. I said I’d think about it, but I wasn’t sure if I even needed to go to a chiropractor. After all, I am only 19 years old. But I did get annoying head aches and my lower back would hurt by the end of the day. But I never thought the pain to be a big deal. Finally, I decided to at least let him examine me…and am so glad that I did!
After my x-rays, Dr. Allen informed me that I had subluxations in my spine and my neck was holding 29 pounds! Not only did my neck lose its entire curve, but it was also tilting forward (just imagine a Giraffe!). I thought that since I was so young, I wouldn’t have anything wrong with my spine and neck. I was wrong. When I was 15 years old, I fell on my head and had a slight concussion, I’ve been in two car accidents, and am often stressed out about school Ð which I learned are all signs that I could have spinal subluxations. I knew I had to do something; my lower back pain and head aches definitely interfered with my daily routine.
One of the thing I love about Clear Purpose is Dr. Allen didn’t just tell me I had problems in my back and then start to adjust me; he really explained everything in detail and gave me a wealth of information. He wanted to make sure that I understood what was wrong with my spine and what he was going to do. I have to admit, at first I was scared at letting someone adjust me, but after the firat few times, I knew that I was in good hands.
In the couple months that I have been going, I’ve never felt better. I didn’t expect to notice any improvements so quickly, but my head aches have almost disappeared, I don’t have that pinching feeling in my lower back, and I am able to turn my neck with ease. I feel great!
I would recommend going to a chiropractor to anyone…and I do! But I only recommend Clear Purpose Chirpractic, of course. Whenever I’m in here, I feel so welcome, and I see how much Dr. Allen and Dr. Shani care about there patients. It definitely doesn’t feel like a stuffy doctor’s office and they play cool music! But most importantly, they have made me and so many others feel better!

Karrin R.

Hi. My name is Karrin and I am 27 years-old. I have been a patient of Clear Purpose for 2 ½ months. I had never been to a chiropractor before, but I have had chiropractic care recommended to me on numerous occasions from various people: I had been suffering from headaches for the past ten years and severe migraines for the past six years. Three months ago I met up with the team of Clear Purpose Chiropractic at an info booth and I decided to heed the advice of my family and friends and give it a try. Over the past ten years, I had been to many doctors and specialists, only to be put on more medication each time. I was tired of only treating the problem. The headaches were interfering with my life, and the medication I had to take would get rid of the pain, but it often left me drowsy and too exhausted to function from fighting the initial pain. The medications were also working less frequently, and I was afraid of the highly-addictive nature of some of the medications (Vicodin, Fiorinal, Robaxin), making me more hesitant to continue taking them. I wanted to find out why I was having the headaches so I could prevent them in the first place. Dr. Allen spent a lot of time discussing what chiropractic was and how it could help prevent headaches.
At first, I was nervous about having my back and neck “cracked,” but Dr. Allen was very thorough in his explanations and answered all of my questions, putting me at ease. The Half Hour to Wellness Workshop that Dr. Shani presented was very informative, and made me feel more confident in choosing to go the chiropractic route. I realized that the results of little mishaps (concussions) that occurred over the course of my entire lifetime could have contributed to my current (lack of) physical well-being, even though the medical doctors had denied the potential for any long-term damage.
Since I have been receiving care from Clear Purpose, I have only had two migraines, lasting less than 24 hours each (when I used to have at least one per week, lasting 2-3 days each) and the intensity of the migraines was severely diminished! The frequency and duration of headaches also decreased. Over the past 2 ½ months I have only had a few minor headaches, whereas I had previously had a chronic pain to deal with on a daily basis. I had come to a point where I just accepted headaches as part of my life, and now I ask myself, “Why?” I now realize that most headaches can be prevented. I have also been sleeping better since coming here. I know I have improved physically because I feel better overall and I am excited about seeing the additional proof on my 3-month x-rays. I have recommended Clear Purpose Chiropractic to all of my friends and family, because they have a great staff and because what they do really works!
Thanks to Dr. Allen and his team, I have the motivation to make more healthy changes in my life, and to finally enjoy living without the pain!

Stallcop Family

The Stallcop Family has been coming to Clear Purpose Chiropractic for several months. Kelly, who has suffered from mild scoliosis and lower back problems, originally found Dr. Shani and Dr. Allen through a friend and raved about their treatments. “I was impressed with their modern methods including seminars, adjustment tables, traction devices and open houses where they educate you on Chiropractic care and the human body. They are different than any chiropractor I have been to. Since starting my treatments several months ago, my lower back pain has virtually disappeared, the curvature in my neck has nearly returned to its natural position and I feel healthier overall. Dr. Shani has seen me through some fairly serious health problems and has taught me a lot about preventative treatment. Even when he does not have the exact answers for a particular situation, he is willing to research with you to help find the right solutions. These doctors absolutely love what they do and it is evident by the way they care for their patients. I feel blessed to have found them and am thankful that my family is coming to them now as well. My 15-year old sister, Anastasia, is constantly reminding us to drink enough water and keep a good posture, both things that she learned from Dr. Shani. It is nice to see her benefiting from this at such a young age and beginning her preventative treatment!”
Although Miriam had good chiropractic help in the past, she still suffered from pain and stiffness in her neck and upper shoulders. She attributed her constant headaches to food allergies as well as to the tangled nerves throughout her spine. The discomfort was severe enough that she relied quite a bit on pain killers which gave her side effects. “I am glad I switched to Clear Purpose Chiropractic. The number of headaches has subsided tremendously, the discomfort and pain of my neck has definitely disappeared and I have been feeling healthier and free of pain. I like the professional methods of Clear Purpose Chiropractic. They are also very attentive and take time to understand a person’s problems. Dr. Shani is an excellent Chiropractor and knows exactly where the problem is before adjusting. His hands, although very gentle, are tough enough to straighten my back and neck. With Dr. Shani as the caretaker of my frame, I am definitely looking forward to enjoying better health and decreasing the possibilities of future diseases.”
Terry came to Clear Purpose Chiropractic with a number of physical problems including severe neck curvature, lower back and hamstring problems, and shoulder soreness. “I was a mess physically and was recovering from a broken elbow from a mountain biking accident. After X-rays, Dr. Shani told me that my neck was in reverse curvature and that I was beginning bone fusion. He also told me my spine was crooked resulting from accidents and years of poor posture. Within two weeks of my first visit, my back and leg pain were nearly gone from merely putting a wedge support in all of my shoes which allowed my back to stay in adjustment. Dr. Allen and Dr. Shani have also done wonders with my sore shoulder. They have used both aggressive and non-aggressive moves to stretch my muscles and relieve the tension causing the pain. Although my neck has a long way to go, the home traction devices they provide you continually remind you that you must continue the treatment both inside and outside of the office. I am very impressed with their quick diagnosis, pin-point adjustments and their pleasant nature. It starts with the wisdom for the day on a white board outside their office, the pleasant nature of the receptionist Samantha, and swiping a card to bring up your electronic medical records. It is all very well organized and extremely effective and rewarding. It is great to know your care is in their hands.”

What’s so interesting about Clear Purpose Chiropractic! It’s their caring attitude. They care enough to get you on the right path of improvement. I have a very active lifestyle, and it was fortunate, for me, that I met Dr. Shani and his staff at the Community Pumpkin Run after I completed the 5K Run. I sacually mentioned my nagging neck pain and headaches. Dr. Shani was very polite and immediately was most concerned about my problem. His caring attitude won me over.
My first visit to the office was strange because I never thought I would need a chiropractor. Dr. Shani was so eager to point out his treatment plan and how I would feel better in no time. Dr. Shani’s approach was also felt by my husband, who accompanied me during the office consultation.
With continued weekly treatments, my whole body seems to be improving and responding rapidly. I am so impressed with Clear Purpose Chiropractic. It is so important to have a healthy body and with the wonderful regular adjustments and proper alignments, Dr. Shani is doing just that. He wants the best for me. Now that is caring!!
Thanks,
Dena

I have had back problems since I was a teen and I have seen a couple different chiropractors through the years. I noticed that I always had a temporary fix, but never a long term healing it felt. I have always suffered from migraine headaches on occasion and mild headaches frequently. I started seeing Dr. Allen in mid October after meeting him as a new member in a Business Networking International group. With my first visit I was very impressed with his office and the relaxing and friendly atmosphere it had, but still on a very professional level. I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical given my past experiences, but I liked Dr. Allen as a person and was willing to give it a chance. He quickly gained more of my confidence with how knowledgeable he was and of concern with the long-term effects of damage on my overall health. Over all health in relation to my spine was new to me, I liked that idea. I realized then that I had given up on my situation prematurely and there was still hope for me.
I had a 41% loss of curvature in my neck along with some other issues. I started treatments and followed my at home assignments of traction and so forth. We had a check up exam after three months that revealed an improvement that surprised me. I went from a 41% to a 5% loss of curvature making me spine of the month for February. I also have not had the frequency of headaches or the pain in my shoulder that I used to have. I also noticed that people around me, what seems to be everyone, have been suffering from illnesses of all sorts while I have been able to ward them off. I don’t believe this a coincidence but a result of having a healthier spine.
I also had my daughter Amber who is 12 years of age checked. She has always been heavily involved in sports and very active. She has taken a few spills in her past, but never broke a bone. She occasionally complains of pains that I always believed were growing pains (5’7″@age 12 and always the tallest in her class since I can remember). Trusting in Dr. Allen 110% I wanted to be sure there wasn’t more to her complaints and had her checked. We discovered a birth defect in her bones that was creating her pain along with some spinal problems that could have given her permanent damage if gone undiscovered. Dr. Allen is now treating her as well.
My three-year-old son Marc has even been checked. Seeing the improvement and how much Dr. Allen has helped with some simple chiropractic visits, my husband Bruce, who has never seen a chiropractor, is now ready to start his exam and treatments.
I want to thank Dr. Allen and Clear Purpose Chiropractic for helping my family to a healthier life. I recommend them and their services to all that I can.
Sincerely,
Amy
